Korean language school registered in Overseas Koreans Agency. We offer a class for children, teens, and adults every Sunday in New Canaan, CT. Our School is 501(c)(3) non profit organization, and we offer tax-deductible receipts for donations.

Curriculums

Pre-K & Kindergarten

The goal of this course is to familiarize the students with the Korean language and develop a level of comfort with the language. Students will develop basic foundational language skills through stories, rhymes, and songs. Students will learn basic vowels and consonants, stroke patterns, read basic syllables, express likes and dislikes, and learn native and sino numbers.

The number of students in a classroom will be up to 7.

1st-4th Grade, 5th-8th Grade

The goal of this course is to familiarize the students with the Korean language and develop a level of comfort with the language. Students will learn how to match sounds with letters, stroke patterns, basic syllables, names, and words. Students will learn Sino and Native numbers and words for vocabulary expansion and will learn basic sentence patterns to state existence or possession. Students will learn basic greetings, express likes and dislikes, express how old they are, and understand basic questions.

1st-8th graders will be grouped by skill level.

Teen & Adult

The goal of this course is to develop a comfort of the Korean language. Students will master the Korean alphabet (Hangul) focusing on reading skills including pronunciation rules, and will learn the basic four skills of Korean (listening, reading, writing, speaking), as well as sentence structure. The class will cover basic topics including greetings, introductions, Sino and Native numbers in an age appropriate way using real world applications. Students will be able to express statements of possession and existence.

Our Educators

  • Dr. Nara Jeong

    Dr. Jeong holds her BM degree from Seoul National University in Korea. She holds MM and DMA degrees from the Catholic University of America in Washington D.C. Previously, Dr. Jeong was a teacher at the Connecticut Korean School and served as the program director for the Connecticut Korean School in New Canaan. Dr. Jeong is the Founder of the New Canaan Korean School and is a teacher for younger students.

  • Ms. HeeJoo Jeon

    Ms. Jeon graduated from Korea University with a major in politics in Seoul, Korea. She is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at Seoul National University. Ms. Jeon is a teacher for our younger students.

  • Ms. Wook Ju Lee

    Ms. Lee graduated from Korea University majored in Public Health Science. She works at GE Healthcare Korea. She worked at 기쁨의 교회 한글 학교, 코네티컷 한글 학교 교사 as a teacher. She is a teacher for our younger students.

  • Ms. Hye Young Suh

    Ms Suh received her BFA from Kookmin University in Seoul and MFA from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, majoring in Metalsmithing and Jewelry Making. She worked as a jewelry designer in New York City before moving to CT. Ms. Suh is a teacher for our cultural arts, Korean cooking, and craft class.
